So, how much do you earn from Affiliate Marketing, Dave?
This is the most common question I get asked, and the most understandable one to me. If i’m going to sit here typing and telling you how you can make money online, what can I show to prove it works? You need to know i’m not just spouting theory.
OK, here’s a recent graph (April 2024) showing how much commission i’ve made from the programs I tend to operate with on a day to day basis.
The earnings are from multiple websites in various niches. I’ve expressed them in dollars just for consistency (some pay in £, some in $). It’s very important to not have all your eggs in one basket. Diversify your earnings.

The data is a few months old; I haven’t updated it for a wee while, but it gives you the idea. The app that I use to create the graph is called Credit and Debit. It’s good because the reporting automatically converts the foreign currency to local at the current rate.
This was mainly from selling Weather related kit, such as weather stations, barometers, thermometers etc. on one specific website. A small proportion was from a high end outdoor clothing manufacturer.
Building/Hosting
Private contracts to build websites and host them for clients. This figure has increased a fair bit since this data was gathered. It pays my fees at Wealthy Affiliate.
Wealthy Affiliate
Commissions from within Wealthy Affiliate, including referrals and sales of domains and training for other members on the platform. My early earnings at Wealthy Affiliate came within a couple of months of starting.
Mainly digital products (typical of Clickbank). The most was from a Bot system before ChatGPT and AI came along. I haven’t promoted anything here for a while until recently picking up on The Niche Marketing Kit.
These are advertising fees for display of ads on my sites. I tend not to display ads on my sites now as clicks take visitors away from my content, and also slows down the sites considerably.
Bluehost
An alternative hosting package to Wealthy Affiliate. Bluehost specialise in WordPress hosting and are highly regarded and used by many affiliates. They are very cheap too, although they tend to want you to pay for 12 months upfront to get the best deal.
I will be working with Shopify and Udemy in the near future.
